Vaccinations
Protecting your family against seasonal sicknesses and other communicable diseases has never been easier. Simply turn to Primary Care of Eureka to have our team administer vaccinations to you or your child. We have extensive experience immunizing both children and adults. Lastly, we offer infant and newborn immunizations to protect your growing baby from viruses.
Preventing Seasonal Flu
One way to avoid getting the flu is by getting a flu shot. Recommended for kids and adults, the children and adult flu vaccine can help people from as young as six months and older. Once given the vaccination, you’ll not only be protected but those who are around you, who may be more vulnerable to the disease, will be protected as well. We especially urge parents to vaccinate children (particularly those younger than age five), as immunization is one of the recommended ways to protect them from influenza.
We are sometimes asked about common side effects associated with vaccinations. It is possible that you may experience minor soreness, redness, and swelling at the injection site, as well as low-grade fever, and aches. Our medical specialists will be more than happy to tell you more about these common side effects.
Injection Options
We understand that most people do not look forward to getting injections. For this reason, we can talk to you about receiving an intradermal shot, which uses smaller needles. This immunization option is for people age 18 to 64 years.
If you are a person with a weakened immune system, ask us about getting a high-dose flu shot. This injection is for people who are generally older and have a low immune function. Because of the higher dosage, it helps these individuals with this condition effectively. Lastly, there are other vaccination options available, including a nasal spray that we will be happy to discuss with you.
